On August 20, 2025, the 2023 Dietitians Act was repealed, and the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists was brought under the Regulated Health Professions Act. With this legislative change, the organization became the Nova Scotia Regulator of Dietetics (NSRD). The department of Health and Wellness has created a website found at this link which explains the changes in legislation for health professions.
The Regulator of Dietetics carries forward the mandate of regulating the profession of dietetics in Nova Scotia, safeguarding the delivery of safe, competent, and ethical nutrition care in the public interest.
The Regulator exist to serve the public. By regulating the profession in accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), the RHPA General Regulations and the Regulations for Dietetics and upholding the standards of dietetic practice, we recognize dietitians and nutritionists as licensed health professionals and hold them to the highest professional standards of safety, competency, and ethics. This ensures the public is given responsible, quality dietetic services.
