Re-Licensure
This category is for applicants who were previously licensed with NSRD, but no longer hold a licence for any reason and now wish to be licensed again.
All individuals who have ever been licensed with the NSRD or the former NSCDN have an online profile in the NSRD Online Portal. However, if you have never used the NSRD Online Portal, you may need to contact NSRD to obtain log-in credentials for the Portal at registration@nsrd.ca.
Application Process:
- Log into your online profile on the NSRD Online Portal. Contact the Regulator if you require assistance accessing your Portal.
- Complete an application for re-licensure*
- Complete the application form in full.
- Upload all supporting documents required by the form.
- Provide any other required supporting documents to NSRD.
- Click Submit and pay the application fee.
- Pay the licensing fee following the approval of your application
*A term license is available for re-licensure when a dietitian intends to practise for three months or less, or requires licensure to cover a practice period of up to three months prior to the renewal period. A term license does not carry into the next licensing year.
Online Application Form:
The application form is a legal document. You must answer all sections completely and accurately. Errors and omissions will delay the processing of your application. Please read this page carefully before starting an application form.
Required Supporting Documents:
Re-licensure applicants do not need to submit new copies of valid documents which the Regulator already has on file from a previous application. However, the Regulator reserves the right to request updated documents from registrants if previously submitted documents no longer meet the Regulator’s current requirements.
SUMMARY OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:
| Uploaded through Online Application Form | Sent Separately to Regulator |
| Professional Liability Insurance Certificate | Verification of registration from each regulatory body with which the applicant currently holds or has previously held registration. |
| Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check or Enhanced Police Information Check | International Criminal Record Check, if applicable |
| Name Change Documents, if applicable |
REMEMBER
You cannot begin working as a dietitian in Nova Scotia (including worksite orientation and shadowing) until you have received written notice from the Regulator that you are licensed.
