Registrants who wish to maintain their licence to practise dietetics and use the protected titles dietitian or nutritionist in the upcoming licensing year must complete the annual renewal process.

The renewal application is available from January 15 to February 28. Late renewal is available from March 1 to March 31. The annual renewal deadline is February 28.

Renewal requirements

To complete renewal, you must:

CCP exceptions: Candidate Registered Dietitians are exempt from CCP learning plan requirements. Registrants who receive a practising licence after October 31 may complete a condensed learning plan with one learning goal.

Missing the renewal deadline

If you do not complete renewal by 11:59 p.m. on March 31, your licence will expire, and you will no longer be considered in good standing. NSRD will notify you in writing. On April 1, or the first business day after April 1, NSRD will also notify your employer, if applicable, that your licence has expired.

If your licence expires because you did not renew, you must apply for re-licensure and pay both the late fee and the re-licensure application fee before returning to practice.
